Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 large yellow onion, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Instructions

  1. Slice the beef against the grain into thin strips. Also slice the onion and mince the garlic.
  2. In a bowl, mix sliced beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and cornstarch. Let marinate for about 10 minutes.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a wok over medium-high heat. Sauté onions until soft and golden brown (5-7 minutes). Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same wok, add another tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add minced garlic followed by marinated beef strips and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until browned.
  5. Return caramelized onions to the wok with beef. Drizzle with sesame oil and toss until heated through (2-3 minutes). Adjust seasoning if needed.
  6. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.
