  • 2 fennel bulbs, thinly sliced
  • 2 apples, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup Gruyère cheese, shredded
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, heat the olive oil. Add the sliced fennel and onion, cooking until softened and lightly caramelized.
  3. Grease a baking dish lightly. Layer half of the caramelized fennel mixture in the bottom, followed by a layer of apple slices. Repeat with the remaining fennel and another layer of apples.
  4. Pour heavy cream evenly over the layers, then sprinkle with shredded Gruyère cheese.
  5. Bake uncovered for about 35 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly.
  6. Let cool slightly before serving.
